Prodigious newcomer unveiled by Rexam.(TECHNOLOGY & PACKAGING)(Rexam Dispensing Systems launches airless lotion dispenser )(Brief article)

Rexam Dispensing Systems has unveiled an airless lotion dispenser as its latest innovation for the personal care industry.

The Prodigio was created from Rexam's Clear Point airless pump process to provide unprecedented cleanliness and neutrality, according to the company.

The airtight closure is activated by an obturator which, once the cream has moved through, slides to ensure the complete closure of the exit tip, putting an end to dried cream deposits and clogging around the exit tip or chamber.

The closure also ensures that it is impossible for any product that could have come into contact with the air, light or skin to flow back into the dispenser. A patented airless pump mechanism is fitted with wider internal channels to allow regular and smooth product use without splashing or clogging.

Prodigio is 100 per cent recyclable and its design also ensures that there is no contact between the lotion and any metal part or elastomer, eliminating the chance of a reaction between lotion and dispenser.

Marketing manager Eric Desmaris said that Prodigio was unmatched in the airless dispenser market. "In developing it we focused our thought process on performance in terms of cleanliness and neutrality, combined with greater visibility on shelves," he said. "Ideal for the masstige market, Prodigio is the ultimate product to dispense modern creams and lotions that are more fragile and viscous."

Production of Prodigio will begin in 2007 at Rexam Dispensing Systems' Tournus site in France.
